Families in energy poverty have lost a powerful and brilliant advocate, with the death of our Chairperson John Mullins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were honoured when John Mullins became Chairperson of EnergyCloud Ireland at the start of 2024 and in the period since his appointment, he brought his passion and expertise to the organisation helping us work to achieve our mission of using surplus renewable energy to tackle fuel poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unique is an often overused word, but John was unique in that he brought a razor sharp focus of business, politics, sport and on social issues impacting society and communities. He was passionate about tackling energy poverty, but also passionate in doing it as part of a collaboration with partners. One week ago he helped launch an EnergyCloud project in his native Cork, with Cork City Council and Age Friendly Ireland (for which he was an Ambassador) alongside Minister Jerry Buttimer. He was as proud of that event as he was about Cork\u2019s National Hurling Final success the day before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At his very first meeting of EnergyCloud, John committed to use his experience from his career in the energy industry and working with charities, to work to use surplus renewable energy to tackle fuel poverty. John did indeed bring this experience to EnergyCloud and in his period as Chair he presided over the launch of projects with partners such as Amazon Web Services, Galway County Council, Offaly County Council, FuturEnergy Ireland, Pinergy, Prepay Power, Electric Ireland, Amarenco, Irish Solar Energy Association and Bord Gais Energy. He also led the establishment of a full-time executive team for EnergyCloud Ireland and was key in the scaling of EnergyCloud to support families in energy poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
