In 2024, approximately 8,103 GWh<\/strong> of surplus wind energy was curtailed across England, Scotland and Wales, with a retail value of over \u00a32 billion<\/strong>. This is clean electricity that could have powered hundreds of millions of hot water tanks or essential appliances for households in need.<\/h3>\nEnergyCloud Scotland is committed to putting this surplus renewable energy to better use: supporting vulnerable households, reducing carbon emissions and helping to build a more efficient and fair energy system for the future.<\/p>\n
Fuel poverty remains a major issue in Scotland. In 2023<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n- An estimated 861,000 households (34%)<\/strong> were living in fuel poverty<\/li>\n
- 491,000 households (19.4%)<\/strong> were in extreme fuel poverty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Despite Scotland\u2019s rich renewable energy potential, vast amounts of clean electricity are still curtailed and lost.<\/p>\n
Our mission is to create solutions that divert surplus renewable energy, which would otherwise be wasted, into homes, with a primary focus on those in fuel poverty.<\/p>\n
