Energy Poverty Reduction (Use of Surplus Renewable Energy) Bill 2025

A very productive meeting to discuss the Energy Poverty Reduction (Use of Surplus Renewable Energy) Bill 2025 has taken place in Leinster House, Dublin. The Bill has been published by Fianna Fáil TD Paul McAuliffe and focuses on tackling energy poverty through better use of surplus renewable energy.

The legislation would require the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to develop and publish a strategy that ensures surplus renewable energy is utilised effectively and specifically for the benefit of people experiencing energy poverty. The Bill also mandates setting national targets for the utilisation of this surplus renewable energy.

Pictured at the meeting in Leinster House were Alan Wyley, CEO of EnergyCloud Ireland, and Paul McAuliffe TD, highlighting the growing collaboration between policymakers and stakeholders in the renewable energy and energy poverty space.
