EnergyCloud Heat Pump Project Goes Live with Galway County Council & Campion

EnergyCloud are delighted to announce a new and exciting project which has recently gone live with Galway County Council. Using Campion software, EnergyCloud turn up selected heat pumps on nights with excess wind power (“curtailment”), storing low-carbon heat for the next day.

When curtailment occurs, we increase the temperature of the home and the water for the families involved in this project. This will reduce their energy bills during the day as their home and water slowly cools to the preset temperatures and this also helps decarbonise the system.

The families in this pilot are customers of Electric Ireland, SSE Airtricity and Prepay Power and thanks to their generous support this energy is FREE to the residents.

Speaking about the project, EnergyCloud Ireland CEO, Alan Wyley said, “this heat pump project is an exciting development for EnergyCloud as we continue to expand our technology partners and support more families. Our work with smart immersion controllers, heat pumps and other technologies allow us to support more families who are in or at risk of fuel poverty. This project is a software driven project which uses existing technology in the home, therefore allowing for greater speed of deployment.”

“On average our first pilots delivered hot water one night in three. This project will deliver heat and water that should support the families through the following day and is the first step in moving to the point of providing free heat and hot water across the full week and helping to remove families from energy poverty.”
