EnergyCloud project underway with heat pump manufacturer and Clúid Housing

An EnergyCloud project is now underway with a domestic heat pump manufacturer and Clúid Housing, the largest approved housing body in Ireland. Last year we established the “EnergyCloud Ready – new home technical working group” to find solutions to work with suppliers of heat pumps, storage heaters and smart water tanks.

According to Jo Whittall, Deputy Chief Operations Officer with Clúid Housing: “As an organisation we have decided that all new homes for Clúid Housing shall be ‘EnergyCloud ready’ to ensure our residents are able to benefit from surplus renewable energy. While the first phase of our work with EnergyCloud has focussed on existing hot water tanks, going forward we want to ensure that all new homes and homes that we substantially renovate, are equipped to benefit from the great work of EnergyCloud.”

“During 2023, Clúid Housing added 1250 new homes to our housing stock and we expect to add a similar number in 2024 and that is why in relation to these new homes we are engaging with suppliers of heat pumps, storage heaters and smart water tanks. In addition, we want to see this work integrated into our nationwide repair and retrofit programme of circa 400 homes per annum. Ensuring that we have all our new homes ‘EnergyCloud ready’ means that, in time, our residents will be able to benefit from surplus renewable energy.”

“We are excited to work on a pilot project with EnergyCloud and a major domestic heat pump manufacturer to design the ‘EnergyCloud ready’ specification into all new build and retrofit projects. This pilot project aligns with the ambitious new build programme that we have in Clúid, and we are excited to commence this project with a major domestic heat pump manufacturer.”
