Chairperson of EnergyCloud Northern Ireland
Jamie Delargy is a former TV journalist. During the course of a long career in broadcasting, Jamie covered business, current affairs and consumer issues. He now focuses on providing a range of consultancy services for the energy market.
Jamie is twice winner of the NI Business Journalist of the Year award. In addition to an MA in Philosophy from Cambridge University he also has an MSc in Finance and Investment from Ulster University.
Senior Policy Analyst, RenewableNI
Shane Corcoran is a Senior Policy Analyst at RenewableNI, where he leads on grid and markets policy and helps to represent Northern Ireland’s renewable electricity industry. His work focuses on enabling greater renewable integration, investment and delivery of Northern Ireland’s clean energy targets. Shane succeeds Steven Agnew, the former RenewableNI Director, on the Board of EnergyCloud Northern Ireland.
Head of Irish Partnerships, FoodCloud
Carla McSorley is Head of Irish Partnerships at FoodCloud, where she leads collaborations with food businesses across Ireland to reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food to communities nationwide. With a background in Environmental Health and sustainability, and over a decade of experience building impactful cross-sector relationships, Carla is passionate about developing practical, collaborative solutions to tackle waste and inequality.
Director, National Energy Action (NEA NI)
Pat has been Director of NEA NI for 20 years. She is an Economics graduate of Queen’s University Belfast. After graduation she spent a year teaching primary and secondary education before moving into the voluntary sector. She has also trained as a Social worker and holds a Diploma in Social Work. Before starting with NEA, Pat spent 10 years at Help the Aged where she managed their advice and advocacy services.
Working closely with Government she sat on the previous Fuel Poverty Advisory Group and Cross Sectorial Fuel Poverty Partnership Group where she chaired the Affordable Warmth Thematic Action Group. She has built and consolidated strong partnerships across the voluntary, community and statutory sectors to find solutions to tackle fuel poverty.
Her experience covers a wide range of disciplines, such as Strategic Planning, Conflict Resolution, Project Management, media and leadership skills. She holds a passion for social justice, sits on the board of the Northern Ireland Anti-Poverty Network and her campaigning and lobbying experience has been instrumental in raising awareness of fuel poverty both within the political and social arena. She is the current Chair of the Fuel Poverty Coalition NI, which consists of over 150 organisations across the private, public, voluntary and community sectors.
University of Ulster
Dr Patrick Keatley is an expert on the role of citizens in future energy systems, and the value of flexibility delivered by smart, customer-owned assets. As well as his role as a director of EnergyCloud, he is a lecturer in energy policy at Ulster University, and co-founder and director of Nemo Energy Limited, an NI-based energy data services provider.
Patrick’s has published extensively in leading research journals on the economics of citizen-owned energy resources and the role of the social housing sector in providing flexibility to renewables-dominated energy systems. He has given evidence to the Westminster Northern Ireland Affairs Committee and supported the NI Government and NI Housing Executive in the development of their Net Zero Energy Strategies.
Prior to joining Ulster University Patrick worked on offshore engineering projects in Europe, Asia and North America for major clients including Shell, BP and Equinor.
Chief Strategy Officer, Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (Board Advisor)
Randal Gilbert is Chief Strategy Officer at Northern Ireland Electricity Networks. With over 40 years of generation, transmission and distribution utility experience with NIE Networks, Randal is responsible for review and development of the business for the future and in particular how the electricity network and the organisation can facilitate and enable the energy transition on Northern Ireland’s journey towards a zero-carbon economy.
Randal is a Chartered Engineer and holds MScs in both Advanced Manufacturing Technology Design & Management (QUB) and Corporate Leadership (Napier) and a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (QUB).
Senior Advisor in Government Affairs, Strategy and Corporate Affairs
An experienced Board Member and Non-Executive Director (INED), Cathal is a Senior Advisor in Government Affairs, Strategy and Corporate to a wide range of companies and organisations.
Cathal has over 20 years’ industry experience in public affairs and corporate communications, having previously served as a political adviser in the Houses of the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) and then managing public affairs for the Construction Industry Federation (CIF). Until 2019, he was Chief Executive Officer of Lee Communications, a company he established to provide public affairs and corporate communications support to a large number of organisations and businesses. Most recently Cathal was Managing Partner with Instinctif Partners, the international business communications consultancy.
Over the course of his career Cathal has advised businesses of all sizes, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to high growth technology start-ups, as well as business associations, member organisations, non-governmental organisations and political leaders on public affairs strategies and corporate communications.
Cathal is an advisory board member of Asia Matters and is a graduate of University College Dublin with an MA in History of International Relations and a BA in History and Politics. He is a graduate of the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) University and represented Ireland at the 9th Asia-Europe Young Leaders Symposium held in Beijing, China.
Cathal is a former Board Member of the National Youth Council of Ireland and previously represented Ireland as a member of the European Youth Parliament. Cathal is currently an Advisory Council member of the Global Economic Summit.
Head of Future Power Systems, SONI Ltd (Board Advisor)
Co-founder of climote, Co-founder EnergyCloud
Derek is a seasoned Manufacturing and Process Engineer with a distinguished background in toolmaking, having won 2 all Ireland medals and represented Ireland at the World Skill Olympics. His career took a pivotal turn as he developed a deep interest in tackling the challenges of global warming. This passion led him to co- found EnergyCloud.org, a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to diverting surplus renewable energy to citizens in need.
Derek has focused on assembling a robust team in each jurisdiction, comprising directors from various sectors, including Wind & Solar Farm Associations, Electrical Transmission and Distribution System Operators, Local Authorities, Social Housing Providers, Energy Retailers, Manufacturers, Universities, and organizations addressing fuel poverty. Together, they work to create innovative solutions that drive sustainable energy practices.
In addition to his work with EnergyCloud.org, Derek co-founded climote, a home energy management company. Climote was established to provide cutting-edge technology solutions that manage energy consumption, enabling users to transition from fossil fuels to zero-carbon renewable energy. Before climote, Derek co-founded Smarthomes, Ireland’s largest home technology company. A serial entrepreneur, Derek is deeply passionate about social enterprise and is committed to building teams that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Development Director, MDE Installations
Donna Donnelly is the Development Director at MDE Installations, where she drives strategic growth and supports the company’s expansion across Ireland and the UK. She combines deep industry experience with strong commercial insight, underpinned by a degree in Quantity Surveying and a first-class Master’s in Business Development from the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Dublin. Known for her innovative and forward-thinking approach, Donna plays a key role in shaping MDE’s long-term direction and strengthening its position as a leading electrical contractor. She is also deeply passionate about EnergyCloud’s mission to divert surplus renewable energy to homes experiencing fuel poverty, helping create a fairer and more sustainable energy future.
Head of Sustainable Development, Northern Ireland Housing Executive (Board Observer)
Robert Clements is the Head of Sustainable Development for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and leads on the Housing Executive’s Sustainable Development Strategy. He also manages the Home Energy Conservation Authority statutory functions for Northern Ireland. He is currently leading a large-scale low carbon programme to improve householder and landlord outcomes within a new decarbonised environment.
Robert has worked in social housing for over 25 years and has extensive experience in residential refurbishment and development with his previous roles in the private and housing association sector. His focus is residential energy efficiency, decarbonisation and mitigating fuel poverty through a just transition.
Robert is a certified Passive House Consultant, graduated from Ulster University in 1993 with a BSc (Hons) in Building Engineering and Management and is professionally qualified via the Chartered Institute of Building. In 2024 he took up the role as CIOB Sustainability Ambassador and is a committee member for the CIOB NI Hub. He is currently a board member for Sustainable NI and a board observer for EnergyCloud Northern Ireland.
