EnergyCloud meeting with Minister Gordon Lyons

EnergyCloud Northern Ireland CEO Dr. Patrick Keatley has thanked Communities Minister Gordon Lyons MLA and his officials following a meeting to discuss fuel poverty, renewable energy and the new Warm Healthy Homes Fund.

“I want to thank Minister Gordon Lyons and his officials for a hugely constructive and engaging meeting.

We had a valuable discussion about the new Warm Healthy Homes Fund and the opportunity to ensure that future investment in homes across Northern Ireland delivers not only greater energy efficiency, but lower and more manageable energy costs for households.

I was also pleased to update the Minister on the work already being undertaken by EnergyCloud Northern Ireland with partners including the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Radius Housing, NB Housing, Bryson Charitable Group, Budget Energy, ClickEnergy, Share Energy and SSE Airtricity

These partnerships are demonstrating how surplus renewable electricity can be redirected to provide free hot water and other practical benefits for households, while also supporting the wider electricity system.

At a time when fuel poverty remains such a significant challenge, there is a clear opportunity to use more of Northern Ireland’s surplus renewable electricity to support the households that need it most.

We look forward to continuing the conversation with the Minister, his Department and our partners.”
