EnergyCloud and the ‘Social Reserve’ – an explainer

Dr. Patrick Keatley, CEO of EnergyCloud Northern Ireland explains the role of EnergyCloud in helping to create a ‘Social Reserve’

“In the UK each year, we waste billions of pounds’ worth of renewable energy, while at the same time millions of households are in, or at risk of, fuel poverty.

EnergyCloud seeks to solve both those problems. We are already operating with system and network operators and social housing providers to give free surplus renewable energy to households in need.

Our aim is to create a social reserve which, whenever markets and systems have completed their work, takes excess renewable energy and gives it for free to fuel-poor households, creating massive social value.”
