A major new report from the Scottish Futures Trust argues that demand creation and clean flexibility should become central tools for managing transmission constraints, rather than continuing to curtail renewable generation.
One finding stands out.
The report estimates that providing up to 1 kWh of additional free electricity per day to every household in Scotland during periods of surplus renewable generation could have:
⚡ Reduced wind curtailment by 634 GWh
💷 Saved £45 million in constraint payments
🏠 Delivered around 250 kWh of additional electricity per household
❤️ Made a meaningful contribution to tackling fuel poverty.
This is exactly the principle behind EnergyCloud.
