Kilcock Sustainable Energy Community & Kilcock SVP EnergyCloud Pilot
SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities Newsletter – August Edition
Kilcock Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) and Kilcock Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) recently partnered with EnergyCloud to support a local household experiencing energy hardship. Kilcock SVP identified a family struggling with electricity costs and, together with Kilcock SEC, introduced them to the EnergyCloud programme. Following an assessment of the home, EnergyCloud installed a smart immersion controller, enabling the household to benefit from free tanks of hot water when energy is made available through the programme (the smart immersion does not need wifi and has normal controls similar to a standard immersion).
The pilot demonstrates a simple but powerful idea: renewable energy that might otherwise be wasted has the potential to be used for social good.
EnergyCloud is keen to collaborate with other Sustainable Energy Communities across Ireland to demonstrate how surplus renewable energy can be used for social good and extend the benefits of this technology to more households experiencing energy hardship.
